ACTIVITIES IN KRISTIANSAND

Kristiansand is one of Norway’s most lively cities with art, food and music festivals all year long. See www.o-festivalen.com  and www.kristiansand-norway.com for more information.

MAPS AND TERRAIN

The sprint on Friday will be at the Kristiansand Zoo (Dyreparken). A new map will be completed in 2013 at 1:4000 with 2 meter contour intervals. The terrain is an amusement park with a variety of buildings and technical installations, paved paths and alleys, open park and short grass. There are also forested slopes, some quite steep and, of course, fenced areas for animals.

Shoes with metal studs or spikes are not allowed during the sprint race at the Zoo.

The maps for the middle distance race on Saturday and the long distance race on Sunday are sections of the Kvåse map, revised 2012-2013, scale 1:10 000 / 1:7500, 5 meter contour intervals. The terrain is hilly and steep in places with fairly good runability. Some open marshes. The vegetation varies from mixed forest with some dense areas with undergrowth, to open, easily run oak forest. Some clearings of varying age and re-growth.

The maps are produced by Rambøll kart og 3D. Vycheslav Mukhidinov is the controller for all three days.

OUT-OF-BOUNDS

The sprint on Friday, June 21 will be held within the Kristiansand Zoo grounds. Participants can visit the zoo, but may not use maps of any kind. The Zoo area may be declared out-of-bounds for Norgescup participants as well as D/H15, D/H16 and team leaders a few days before the event. More information about this will be posted on www.o-festivalen.com .
